Art is all you need

Art can save the world

What is an abstract painting?

An abstract painting is a form of art that does not represent physical and material reality in a direct way.
Unlike figurative painting, abstract painting does not seek to represent recognized objects or people, to figure, but rather to communicate emotions, sensations or ideas, conceptions, through shapes, colors, textures and the lines.
The abstract artist creates a composition that can be interpreted in different ways, letting the imagination of the "viewer" decide, in part, the interpretation of the painting.

Abstract art thinks about the world in an abstract way, sometimes without words, to offer a sensitive, sensual, conscious, even spiritual and not commonly representative vision.

Some artists do not have very firm boundaries separating these 2 pictorial universes.
For example, Jorge Galindo creates flower paintings that flirt with abstraction. Watch this short video from his exhibition at Galerie Almine Rech to find out more, from May 2023 here.

I mainly create abstract paintings, but I'm not "at war against the figurative" either. It's more a question of taste and strong attraction for the freedom of exploration that abstraction allows me.

What techniques are used to create an abstract painting?

It's very vast. Creating an abstract painting is a fascinating and complex process that can be accomplished with a variety of techniques and mediums.

As an abstract artist, I often use media such as acrylics, oil sticks, pastels, inks and watercolor or oil, to create my paintings. The list is not exhaustive. The techniques I use to create my abstract paintings vary depending on my desires and my intention or research theme.

There are many techniques for creating an abstract painting, ranging from applying very thick layers of paint, to dripping, splattering, or painting with a knife.
I use tools such as brushes, spatulas, squeegees and sprays to create textures and movement. I project the paint directly from a bucket or any other tool constructed by me.
Recently I used a lice comb to draw fine lines, thus cross-connecting my memory of mother with my artistic will, to create an interesting structure.

Most of my abstract paintings are made with a combination of different techniques and mediums, which is indicated with "mixed media".

One of the advantages of abstract painting is that the artist is freer to combine different techniques and elements than with more classic painting such as oil painting which follows a more academic pictorial tradition.
This is what makes each work incomparable and captivating.

How to choose the appropriate size for an abstract painting?

Choosing the size of an abstract painting depends above all on the space available.
If you want to adorn a small wall, a medium canvas will be perfect.
If you want to give a striking presence to your living room, a large abstract painting will be more suitable.
I am here to support you in your choice.
We can discuss your desires and needs together during a telephone interview or videoconference.
To help you visualize the result, I create a photo montage of your selection of paintings on the photos of your place where the canvas will be added.
This allows you to see more concretely how the painting(s) fit into your space.

You can contact me by email to discuss your project, in contact page.
I would be happy to help you choose the ideal abstract painting(s) for your interior, whether for your home or business.

How to hang an abstract painting?

When hanging an abstract painting, it is important to consider the size and weight of the work.
For large formats, it is recommended to use a solid mounting support to prevent the canvas from coming loose or falling.

I generally recommend using two large nails for medium-sized canvases, on which the frame will rest. Unless you have chair rails.
For large formats, it is often preferable to place them directly on the ground or to support them securely with dowels and screws.

Some of my large formats are designed to be placed directly on the wall, without a frame, to create an idea of skin that hugs the surface.
It is an artistic decision that can be taken depending on the desired visual rendering and the size of the work. Sometimes I put eyecups on the canvas.

If you have any specific questions about how to hang one of my abstract paintings, please do not hesitate to contact me. I share my knowledge and experience to help my collectors exhibit my works in the best possible way.

How much does an abstract painting cost?

The cost of an abstract painting varies depending on many criteria.
The size of the canvas, the quality of the materials used, the fame of the artist and the art market.
Some works can cost several million euros, while others are more affordable.

I regularly carry out a study of the art market, for the prices of my paintings, in order to offer a fair price.
The size of the table also comes into play.
What matters most is the subtle appreciation of my work through risk-taking, the materials used, the time invested and surpassing myself.
I then carefully balance all these very different factors and I can assure you that I do everything possible to offer a fair and equitable price for my abstract paintings.
It is important to note that each abstract painting is unique and created by the artist, which makes the price variable from one work to another.
All online art galleries take a variable commission, ranging from 35 to over 50% of the sale price, excluding VAT.

If you are interested in one of my works, do not hesitate to contact me to discuss it and obtain more information on the price.

Where can you buy a quality French abstract painting?

Abstract paintings can be purchased in art galleries, art fairs, marketplaces (like Art Majeur, Kazoart, Saatchi, Artsper...) or on artists' websites.
It is important to do research and take the time to choose an abstract painting based on your tastes and desires.
Do not hesitate to consult the artists' websites and social networks to get a clear idea of their style and work before purchasing an abstract painting.

In terms of quality, I use quality materials.
I use acrylic paints, aerosols, oil sticks, papers produced by old and reputable companies like Sennelier, Amsterdam, Liquitex, Lefranc Bourgeois, Golden, etc. I buy my canvases, mediums and wooden frames from Marin Beaux Arts.
My favorite canvas is thick, in light beige cotton with a 420 g/m² weave.
Since 1947, the French house Marin Beaux-Arts has been manufacturing equipment for artists in an artisanal and serious manner, it is recognized by many well-known artists.

How do I find an abstract painting that suits my tastes?

The best way to find an abstract painting that suits your taste is to look at the different styles and find what you like best.

The purchase of an abstract painting is often linked to a crush.
I have created different collections to group together different styles of canvases, and thus facilitate your search.

Asking yourself a few questions can also help:
Do you prefer abstract or figurative art? Contemporary or older?
Are you mainly in a financial investment, with an opportunistic speculation at a certain deadline, or rather in search of a real human connection?

What makes an abstract painting unique is its singular ability to communicate an emotion and/or an idea. Each abstract painter uses their special combination of colors, textures and shapes to create an irreplaceable and original visual experience.

For me, art is an infinite quest that sets the entire being in motion, regular work and varied sources of inspiration.

To connect with an artist, it is important to look closely at their production.
Read his comments about his artistic approach and see his projects.
You will then meet the works AND the artist. This will nourish your purchase with your particular story with the artist and the chosen painting.

The artist always brings an important part of himself into his work, whether it is his vision of the world, his personal experience, his state of mind or his emotional feelings. This is what makes each work exceptional.

I am very invested in my artistic practice and am attentive to your questions to help you make this journey an authentic and pleasant journey.
And for you, it is also the opportunity to support a talented local, French artist.

How do you know if an abstract painting is authentic?

To verify the authenticity of an abstract painting, it is important to look at its provenance and check if it is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
Each of my paintings is exclusive and original, made by myself without the help of an assistant. I always provide a certificate of authenticity that I create and sign myself.

If you have any doubts about the authenticity of a work, it is recommended to consult an art expert for a professional evaluation.

I am inspired by many contemporary artists, listening to my time, nevertheless each painting that I create is a unique and transcendent expression.
I bring a lot of care and commitment to the creation of my paintings.
Very attentive to every detail, I spend a lot of time observing the painting during the creation process.
I need to feel this feeling of satisfaction and total achievement, that my painting “holds together” so that it can live over time.

I generally sign my paintings on the back with a permanent marker so as not to visually interfere with the overall consideration of the painting, as is common in contemporary art.

How to buy one of your abstract paintings?

My website is linked to “Art Majeur” to facilitate the financial transaction on both sides.
All payment cards are accepted as well as transfer and Paypal. Every payment is 100% secure with an SSL + 3D Secure certificate.
I accept cash delivered by hand.

Do you deliver your abstract paintings?

Yes, I am happy to be able to deliver my abstract paintings worldwide to allow all art lovers to acquire my original creations.
If you live in Paris or the nearby suburbs, I can even deliver to you personally, if the size of the canvas allows, since I live and work in the capital. In this case, simply contact me to arrange delivery in person.

For more distant countries, I use professional carriers to transport the canvases safely. In this case, I take care to protect the painting with careful packaging to avoid any damage during transport. Note that Art Majeur, the platform on which my paintings are available for sale, is also insured to cover the risks associated with transport.

When it comes to large canvases, I often prefer to send them rolled to avoid any risk of damage. In this case I peel the paint off the chassis and roll it around a sturdy cardboard tube, then it is put into a heavy duty plastic tube to ensure maximum protection.
Upon receipt, all you have to do is stretch it onto a frame of your choice following the instructions that I provide you with which are easily achievable.

What if it doesn't suit you?

And if ultimately, you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, know that with Art Majeur, we are 100% committed to the satisfaction of collectors.
You can return the painting in perfect condition within 14 days, in its original packaging.
If I personally delivered the canvas to you, I will collect it unconditionally and even offer to present you with another painting that might suit you better, until your complete satisfaction.

Do you work to order?

Yes of course ! I respond to contemporary art commissions with joy.
I have produced several commissioned paintings which are now in Paris, in the South of France and in Belgium. I loved these experiences.

For you, there are no surprises, the price is fixed from the start, and it does not change.
I work until you are completely satisfied and happy with your painting.

To do this, I create with you, as close as possible to your expectations and wishes in terms of format, colors and intention. I want to offer you the painting of your dreams so that your living space has that something extra or extraordinary, created just for you. I use my talents and all my creative energy for you.

If you need to occupy several spaces, I am also able to create one or more paintings that harmonize together.

Do you work with galleries?

I couldn't find the gallery owner of my dreams to exhibit my work. I don't search much either, due to lack of time. The life of an artist is very busy, all my time is taken up communicating on social networks, organizing my online art galleries, painting and going to exhibitions. Monday to Sunday, every day of the week is not enough.

I have done several exhibitions and competitions. It was quite disappointing considering the immense investment of time, energy and money. I was disappointed not to be able to meet people there who were really interested in art.
I therefore chose to spend my time exclusively communicating and painting, a little outside of the connections of the art market. I prioritize human relationships.
I don't know how long this decision will last.
My only certainty is that I intend to paint until the end of my life.

I hope I have answered all your questions, otherwise send me an email and I will respond as soon as possible.
You can follow me on my social networks and subscribe, I would be delighted to know you and talk with you.
